Ranjana Hans and husband, Chetan Hans, have lived in the United States for over 14 years. They immigrated from India, where they lived near the foothills of the Himalayas. Now an integral part of the mid-Missouri community, Ranjana seeks to share her love of Ayurvedic medicine with her customers.
“Learning about medicinal herbs and using them in my daily life is my passion!” Ranjana said.
For this reason, Ranjana started her farm-to-table business, Raw Roots Turmeric. She grows medicinal herbs from her native home of India in her home garden and processes them into delicious, healthy beverages, pastes, spice blends, and body products, which she sells at the farmers market.
“I grow turmeric, Ashwagandha, and Tulsi [Holy Basil], and I have created ready-to-use pastes by using these herbs. All the pastes can be added to water, tea, and coffee!”
Ranjana loves coming to Columbia Farmers Market. “The farmers market is a great platform for me. People who are looking for natural health solutions visit our booth. Connecting with my community, educating people about herbs, and giving them beverage samples is the best part of being at the farmers market,” she said.
