The Market Assistant will set up, operate, and break down the market’s information center (The Oasis), as well as help set up and break down the rest of the market. The primary responsibilities are selling market tokens and merchandise, assisting food access program customers (SNAP, WIC, SNAP matching programs, Produce Prescription Program, and Good Food Detective’s Club), answering customer inquiries, and working alongside the Assistant Manager and Lead Market Assistant. The person in this role will be able to develop meaningful relationships with people from many different backgrounds and should be able to effectively communicate their passion for local food systems and farmers markets therein.
Market Ambassadors will proactively approach and greet customers, give market tours, conduct customer surveys, conduct weekly product sampling, answer customer questions, assist SNAP customers using their tokens, and provide any other needed assistance. Ambassadors must be able to self-manage. Knowledge of CFM membership, organization, and market values is necessary; one must be able to communicate that information effectively and accurately to customers. The person in this role will be able to develop meaningful relationships with people from many different backgrounds and should be able to effectively communicate their passion for local food systems and farmers markets therein.
