Columbia Farmers Market is always looking for volunteers. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on volunteers from the community to help our market remain a fun and inviting place, and it’s a great way to get to know our vendors and other members of the community. If you are an active community member or a student and your school has a program to gain credit for community volunteering, please consider the market as an ideal place to be helpful, gain credit and have a good time!

Open from 8am–noon, we need weekly volunteers before, during and after market. Tasks include set up, supervising children’s activities, assisting the market staff during the market, greeting and helping customers, and closing down at the end of market. Volunteer shifts are either from 8–10 and 10-12, earlier to help us set up, or they are specific to the volunteer positions. Volunteers may work either a half day, or all day. Along with general volunteering to help the market run smoothly, here are some more specific positions we currently hope to fill:

“The Greenhouse” Volunteer – Assist with planning and managing children’s learning activities at market, help get kids more involved with the local food community and eating healthy.

Market Volunteer – Help market staff during market.  Responsibilities could include setup, hourly customer counts, collect donations from vendors, Oasis support (market headquarters), and breakdown.

Photography Volunteer – We’re always looking for great pictures of our market, vendors and products!  Take photographs and document the farmers market and other special events.

Market Ambassador – Greet market customers, answer any question they may have and direct them to The Oasis or a specific vendor/product at market.

Special Events/Farm to Table volunteer – Assist in the planning, setup, execution and breakdown of events.  The annual Farm to Table fundraiser takes place each year to help offset market expenses.
