Started in 2014, the Columbia Farmers Market began holding an annual Farm to Table Fundraiser Dinner to support market programming. All proceeds come back to the market, helping fund programs such as the “Munch Money” (The Good Food Detective’s club), educational market programming, advertising, etc. In 2014 we raised $5029.08, in 2015 was $5822.03 and 2016 was $6634.78 and 2017 was$7218.29! In addition to raising funds, the event has helped to further connect people to their food and the importance of knowing where it comes from. Each year, over 100 people attend the dinner and take part in celebrating delicious local food and drinks. The dinners, prepared by Joshua Smith and Ben Parks of Barred Owl Butcher and Table, use local ingredients graciously donated by our market vendors. The dinner is a huge success, bringing together familiar and new faces from our community, celebrating an evening of delectable local food and drinks. Again, none of this would have been possible if it weren’t for the help of the vendors of the Columbia Farmers Market and the mid-Missouri community. Promoting local food is much easier to do when we have the support and quality food that organizations such as yourself create.
