Starting in 2014, the Columbia Farmers Market began holding an annual Farm to Table Fundraiser Dinner to support market programs without effecting the market budget. All proceeds come back to the market, helping fund programs such as the “Munch Money” (The Good Food Detective’s club), educational market programming, advertising, etc. In 2014 we raised $5029.08, in 2015 we raised $5822.03 and 2016 we raised $6634.78!
The third annual Farm to Table Dinner took place at Blue Bell Farm on Thursday, June 23rd. With the generous contributions of the Columbia farmers, community members and businesses we were able to have a successful dinner and raised our largest amount to date, totally $6634.78! All funds raised go directly back to the market, helping grow our children’s educational programs! In addition to raising funds, the event helped to further connect people to their food and the importance of knowing where it comes from. Over 100 people attended the dinner and took part in celebrating delicious local food and drinks. The dinner, prepared by Joshua Smith and Ben Parks of Barred Owl Butcher and Table, Tim Eisenhauer of Playing with Fire Wood Fired Pizza and Matthew Robertson, was sourced from local ingredients graciously donated by our market vendors. The dinner was huge success bringing together familiar and new faces from our community, celebrating an evening of delectable local food and drinks. Again, none of this would have been possible if it weren’t for the help of the vendors of the Columbia Farmers Market and the mid-Missouri community. Promoting local food is much easier to do when we have the support and quality food that organizations such as yourself create. Click here to view the 2016 Farm to Table dinner menu.
